David Avila

David is an AI/ML Engineer with 5+ years of experience in software engineering and machine learning, specializing in data science, ML model development and deployment, MLOps, and Generative AI. Originally from Colombia, he began his career delivering AI and software solutions for U.S.-based clients before continuing his professional journey in the Netherlands. He has extensive experience building and deploying end-to-end ML solutions on cloud platforms, leveraging CI/CD/CT pipelines, automated monitoring, and Agile practices to deliver reliable business value. Most recently before joining Aimpoint, he led the migration of enterprise analytical models from MATLAB to Python and cloud-based infrastructure, while contributing to the development of Generative AI solutions across multiple internal teams at a Dutch bank.

David holds both a BSc and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. Passionate about giving back to Colombia's growing technical community, he serves as a Graduate Lecturer at a Colombian university in his spare time. His academic journey began during his master's studies, when he worked as a Teaching Assistant, and has since evolved into mentoring and educating the next generation of engineers.

Outside of work, David is a proud husband and father who enjoys playing football and tennis, going to the movies, and discovering new restaurants—especially when sharing those moments with his family.
