Data Warehouse & ETL Migration for National Restaurant Chain

The Challenge
A US national restaurant and retailer chain wanted to leverage the scalability and resiliency of cloud-powered analytics. To do so, they needed to migrate their entire data warehouse with terabytes of data from Netezza before the product would no longer be supported—additionally, thousands of IBM DataStage ETL workflows needed to be repointed to the new cloud instance.
Our Approach
Our team walked the client through a migration readiness assessment to scope and define the time/resource estimates to complete the lift and shift. Working closely with the customer’s data engineering team, we helped migrate all data warehouse tables and other database objects to Snowflake with automated pipeline refreshes. The Aimpoint Digital team developed the entire security framework through role-based access controls and masking policies while utilizing SCIM for authentication.
Results
The migrated data went into production on time within three months of our involvement.
Reports were migrated to Tableau with live connections to Snowflake, driving up usage of the new cloud platform.
Leadership now has time to evaluate modern ELTand BI tools while sunsetting the older software.
